How to import an electric car to the Middle East and the Gulf

The Gulf is one of the fastest-growing places for electric cars, and it has its own rules. These are the points to check before you buy.

1. Check the specification for your country

Many Gulf countries expect cars to meet regional specifications. A car built for another market may need changes or may not be accepted. Ask for the exact specification of the car you want, and check it against your country's rules.

2. Check the age limit for used cars

Several countries in the region limit how old an imported used car may be. A newer car usually has fewer problems, and it also keeps more of its value. Confirm the current limit before you choose.

3. Ask about the battery in a hot climate

Heat is hard on batteries. Look at the battery health percentage that we show on every car, and ask for the inspection report. A higher battery health figure is a good sign.

4. Know the duty and the costs

Some Gulf countries charge low duty on cars, and fees for registration and customs clearance still apply. Use our calculator for an estimate and confirm the final figure with customs.

5. Ship with a tracking number and pay safely

We ship by container or RoRo, and we show every stage in your account. You pay only into the designated Regional Agent bank account for your region, and the money stays there until you confirm the car.
