EV charging standards explained: CCS2, CHAdeMO, GB/T and NACS

Before you import an electric car, make sure its plug matches the chargers you will use. These are the four standards you will meet.

CCS2

The common fast-charging standard in Europe and many other countries. Most European-market electric cars use it, and many newer public chargers support it.

CHAdeMO

A Japanese standard, found on cars such as the Nissan Leaf. It is less common on new cars but still found in many regions.

GB/T

The standard used in China. Cars built for the Chinese market usually have it, so check that chargers in your country support it.

NACS

The North American charging connector, now used by Tesla and a growing number of makers. Adaptors exist for some cases, so ask about them.

How to check

Each car in our inventory shows its charging standard, and you can filter by it. Slow home charging works with an adaptor or a wall box in many cases, so ask us if you are unsure.

Common questions

Can I charge a car with a different plug?

Often with an adaptor for slower charging, but fast charging depends on the plug and the charger. Ask us before you buy.

Which plug is best?

The best one is the one your local chargers use. Check before importing.
